We randomly decided to visit Market Hall one weekend and stumbled upon the new Abermusic studio, where we met Steven. It had been on my mind to look into piano lessons for Asher and it was so amazing to find a professional studio right in town where we could enroll him. The studio is beautiful and there is even a lovely waiting area for parents.

Steven is extremely knowledgeable, clearly talented, and exudes kindness. He guided Asher through the lesson in such an encouraging manner, that gave our son a lot of confidence and motivation to continue learning.

One of the moments that stood out to me in our first lesson was Steven asking me whether he could put his hand on Asher’s to guide him as he played the piano – this may seem like a small gesture but it’s significant to me as it demonstrates respect for Asher’s personal space, even though he’s only four.

Steven is the rare teacher who cares about his students’ dignity, beyond imparting quality education, and this shows from Day 1.”

I took lessons with Steven. It was the first time I’d had a piano lesson for 17 years and he delivered all the insight and technical expertise I needed to get me playing again and reading music, all within the first half hour. Although I’d had some great teachers when I was younger, Steven was much more empowering in that he is really interested in tailoring learning to the style of the student; he provided me with the perfect blend of encouragement and constructive feedback, along with really practical and memorable advice on technique. If you’re looking to learn piano, I’d really recommend him.
