Jamie began playing drums professionally aged 11 in the Scottish folk music scene. While studying at Drumtech College in London (now BIMM London) he was an in-demand Drum Technician touring with artists such as Jamiroquai, Beverley Knight, Gabrielle and Damage. This led to opportunities as a session drummer for Beverley Knight and Blak Twang on various TV shows (BBC and Channel 4).

On returning to Scotland he worked full time as a drummer and drum teacher. Recording the hit debut single Leeds United with Amanda Palmer before performing with several hip hop artists such as Young Fathers, Skinnyman and B Dolan.

Jamie joined Hidden Orchestra in 2006. They have recorded 8 albums and toured extensively, including performances at The Royal Albert Hall, North Sea Jazz Festival, and several performances at Glastonbury including West Holts Stage, multiple tours of Europe, Russia, Africa and Asia as well as performing live numerous times on BBC radio, including Cerys Matthews Radio 6 show.

Jamie started teaching drums aged 16 and has continued to teach ever since alongside his professional career as a freelance drummer. He began by teaching for various music studios in Edinburgh before moving to working freelance.

Now teaching exclusively online Jamie provides top class, uniquely tailored drum tuition for all levels of ability and in all styles of music.
